Art Meets Access- Kre8 Place is worth the ADVENTURE.
You walk in, you’re automatically captivated. Automatically a familiar. Automatically a family member. That’s the feeling you have as an artist or an aspiring one. The feeling you SHOULD have. For that, The KRe8 Place automatically becomes a second home. At home…I sit and chat with two of the co-owners Quintrel Brown and Dwayne Ferguson, better known as “Trel” and “Ferg”.

KRe8 Place was birthed through an idea that Trel had after serving in the U.S Navy. “I went to school for film, and initially I wanted to jump into the film industry.”, shares Brown. “I learned that it wasn’t going to be easy. So, when I came back here to be closer to my mom, I wanted to do something within my creative lane.”
Prior to relocating back to his hometown, Trel worked as a videographer in Chicago. “They had a creative space there that was similar, I said to myself it would be great to have something like this for St. Louis.” Trel and his partners opened a small creative space in downtown called The KRe8 Loft. “Everything was cool until they started banning us from hosting events there.”, he says. “So, we up and moved and now–it’s the Kre8 Place.”

Dwayne “Ferg” Ferguson, serves as in-house DJ, music producer, and videographer. The space offers virtually limitless artistic services. From hosting events, live shows, podcasts, music videos, photoshoots, to social club, studio sessions, and even an impressive art gallery, curated by local talent.

“We haven’t been here that long, but we’ve come a long way.”, says Ferg. The Bahamian native says his biggest inspiration are his parents. “Growing up in Nassau, I watched my parents work so hard. Me being the oldest, I remember sleeping on the floor. I thought it was cool…until I realized we were poor.”, he jokingly admits. “So, I knew that I wanted to do something. To change things. My dad is a bit lazy now…but he earned it.”

While the third partner; Christian Boyd, is stationed in Virginia in active military duty, Trel and Ferg handle most of the groundwork. “The biggest challenge is definitely the paperwork.”, says Trel. “Keeping things up and in order. I’m thankful for the experiences also, learning what not to do and who not to work with again.”
The team’s ultimate goal is to open more locations to connect and work with more artists, making KRe8 a household name in the art community. They are well on their way…one “kre8ive” at a time.

“Do your research before you start something. There’s no limit to how many times you can start over.” -Ferg
