Eyes on the Prize- JA came to SHINE on ’em.

Quiet. Calm. Calculated. The demeanor of either someone up to mischief…or someone up to GENIUS. I’ve met a few “silent sirens” in my days, but JATheSongod is definitely on his own wave. His hint of mystery is just enough to make you wonder, but not enough to see clearly. Identical to finding a wall plug in the dark, realizing a little LIGHT goes a long way. That’s exactly what JA came to do…ILLUMINATE through the music.

Kingston, Jamaica born Jedidiah “JATheSongod” Arnez knew he wanted to do music for as long as he could remember. “I just remember hearing that voice telling me, “You can do this.” he recalls. “One day I decided to listen to it. So, I started trying to see what I could put down on a beat. It sounded good to me and others, so I was like LET’S DO IT.”

Known for rocking a signature “du-rag”, Arnez says he was inspired by his family’s favorite music, and late 90’s/early 2000’s rap and R&B. “My sister introduced me to a lot of hip-hop, so I got turned on to a lot of Tupac, Biggie and guys like that.” He credits some of his favorites as Kanye “Ye” West, and Lupe Fiasco. “I definitely would say that’s my favorite era of music. Something everybody could just naturally vibe to.”

Growing up in south St. Louis, JA was influenced by the art community, along with the local Boys and Girls club in helping to develop his artistic discipline and character. He credits his mentor, Melvin, for encouraging him to pursue his aspirations. “I was a very shy kid, and he really helped me to come out of my shell.”, he says.

In April 2023, JATheSongod released his debut EP, “Avert Your Eyes” on streaming platforms, followed by single, “All I Do” in June. “This was my first EP, just an introduction, letting you know I can rap.”, he confirms. Now under Pardon The Ruckus label and management, he recently released his new single, “Last Call” from his upcoming anticipated project, “Son Kiss’d”. “Avert Your Eyes was the appetizer…Son Kiss’d is the MEAL.”

The “nostalgic” singer/rapper is currently working on promoting his music, increasing fanbase, and securing solid radio play. “I want my fans to even be able to say, “Hey Grandma, listen to this new track”, and they rock with it.” As for us, WE’RE rocking with the “Songod”, rain or SHINE.
