R&B, Rap, & Renaissance- Marr Huncho, the multi-hat HURRICANE.
St. Louis may not be known as the “windy city”, but the day I met up with the young artist at Kre8 Place in south city…something was definitely in the air. Quiet yet a “sounding” presence, collected at a corner, sat a talented creative with a lot to say and MORE to give. As I prep for our studio session and interview, I can now sense the air was filled with the confidence of a visionary who’s turning his vices into victory, one endeavor at a time.
LaMarr O. Harris Jr., aka “Marr Huncho”, knew he was destined to be a musician from a young age. “Everything I’ve been through growing up, music was my outlet.”, says the St. Louis native. “Probably around the age of 13, I used to walk around the house doing jokes, then they turned into bars and songs.”, he adds. “At that point, I knew I was going to be an entertainer, not just in music.”

Marr began writing and taking his craft more seriously. He says that his musical inspiration growing up was the iconic legend, Stevie Wonder. “I liked his flow and style of music.”, While living in Dallas, Marr performed and also coordinated talent shows and tutor groups for fellow youth. “Whatever it may be, I knew that I was going to be involved with people. I was going to touch a lot of hands, bless a lot of souls.”, he says.

Moving back to St. Louis, Marr brought his experiences with him which inspired his passion to make his mark in the music scene. “My first daughter was born in Mesquite, Texas. My mom moved us down there to keep me out of trouble. My mom and my kids inspire me. Everyone who’s doing what I’m doing inspires me.”

In November 2023, Marr Huncho dropped his first single, “Get Da F**k Back” on streaming platforms. “It’s talking about my experiences, and how I demand respect as I give respect.”, explains the rapper/singer. He also released singles “Shooter”, “Broccoli N Cheddar”, and “Shed a TEAR”. Huncho says his artistic style is “multi-genre”. “I’m an all-around creator, I sing, I rap. I have an R&B soul type of style. I got a sexy aspect, love aspect, party, country, gospel. I go in different directions, and that’s what’s different about me and my artistry.”
Marr Huncho is currently working on new music, collaborations, talent showcases, and his food vendor business. “Food is my passion too, I love to cook. If you taste my food, you’ll want my food every time you see me.”, he confidently confirms. As we wrap up our interview, we hit the studio to lace a track together. Just as I expected, the air was thick again. This time with partnership and potential. Marr is truly a whirlwind of talent. Paving his way through, blowing open doors of opportunity…duck for cover.

“NEVER stop the grind or hustle. Turn your haters into supporters.” -Marr Huncho
