Pen, paper, and OPINION. Styles Price is the SCRIBE. If “I said what I said” was a genre…he would be the vibe. Oh wow, that rhymes and that’s HOT like the talent he gives lol. A gifted lyricist with a laid-back persona. We chat it up at Kre8 Place in south St. Louis, and the star power of this wordsmith is undeniable. Styles Price grew up as an “opinionated” youth. Fond of expression, searching for outlet. “It started off as an inner passion. As I got older, it got to a point where I was like, “I really need to express myself.”, he reflects. The Gateway STEM graduate began connecting his expressive impulse to music. “It was therapeutic.”

The northwest St. Louis native grew up watching his grandmother sing in the choir. “She was a singer, she had a beautiful voice.”, says Price. “That was my biggest inspiration as far as my R&B side.” As he began to venture into developing his lyrical nitch, he started freestyling. “YouTube played a big part. I would go on there to find beats. There are so many beats, so I started using them to make music just for fun. Then after a while I was like “why not just become an artist?”

Styles describes his style as “pop first, then rap, with a splash of R&B”. “I can tend to go in a lot of different areas with it.”, explains Price. “I play to my own drum, whatever comes to me, even if it feels foreign. There’s a reason why certain music inspires you; it’s linked to your heart in some aspect. When you follow through with that, you find out a lot about yourself through music. It’s fun and interesting.” He credits his musical inspirations to Outkast’s half, Andre 3000, rappers Ludacris and Lil Wayne.

In August of 2022, Price released his first 3 song project, “Tangent” on streaming platforms. In December 2022, he followed up with “Ghost House”, “Nova Reign”, and “U Guide It”. Styles released his first EP, “How To Make a Promise” in November of 2023. As of February, Styles Price has dropped a total of 15 projects, with “Nothing But the Rise” being his latest EP.
