Heartbeat To DMV- Maryland MC brings us back to LYFE.
Confident and confluent. Relatable are the ways of this wise wordsmith. A heart for his craft. A rising star of rhapsody. Meet OneLyfe, a Maryland made MC with a “show me” state of mind. We strike up a convo at south St. Louis’ artist hub, The Kre8 Place.

Prince George’s County born artist, Darius “OneLyfe” Cherry, roots his musical origins in the house of faith. “My family kept us in the church. We were always surrounded by instruments, people leading songs in the choir.”, shares the MC. “I found myself playing the guitar. That led to me writing my own raps. Now here we are.”
The 24 yr. old rapper grew up around his older cousins who helped mold his character and passion for his art. “Just watching how they did things; I took notes from them.”, says Darius. As he grew up, he admired many top MCs, such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and singer/rapper T-Pain.

OneLyfe describes his artistic style as “outside of the box”. “Boundaries that they try to create for us that title ourselves as rappers, I make my music so that you can’t categorize it.”, he explains. “You either like it or not, but good vibes”. The artist’s lyrics are subjected on “bouncing back from hard times.” “I try to focus on the bright side of things, and just knowing that everything is going to be ok, just keep looking up.”

In April 2023, OneLyfe released his debut album, “OneLyfe” on streaming services. In June of the same year, he followed up with single, “Pain On Ice”. Earlier this year, the rapper dropped singles, “Five $tar” featuring Hope Green, and “Trophies” featuring Muddy Montanaa. His latest single is “I’m Shinin’”.
OneLyfe is currently working on performing, promoting and artist development. Lyfe (which stands for “Live Your Full Experience”), is giving us “unboxed” and “unorthodox” talent. Who knows which way this gifted artist will sway…as long as we can catch the VIBE.
