South St. Louis native artist, MellowK, fell in love with rhythm from a young age. However, it didn’t start from rapping to the beat, it was in his feet. “It all started with dance.”, recalls Mellow. “From the music to the dance, then back to the music, I started curating.”

Finding early inspirations in artists such as pop legends Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, the Maplewood-Richmond Heights High graduate grew in his skill for footwork, which gradually inspired his introduction into writing. “You can’t really out do MJ, but I grew up in the era with Chris Brown, so that’s who I looked up to.”, says Mellow. “As far as my early musical inspiration, I would have to say Lil Wayne.”

The artist’s style can be described as “chill and laid back”. “I want people to feel the comfort of expressing themselves.” Love or the lack thereof, is the favorite for MellowK to pen about in his lyrics. “I guess it’s about how people go about showing it.”, he explains. Mellow’s first recorded track, “Out of Love/Nice by Nature” showcases his smooth bars, tempo and transparency.

In September of 2022, MellowK dropped his debut single, “Lately” on streaming services. In April 2023, the artist released his debut album, “I Do, I Did!” His studio EP, “GG’s” was released in July of the same year, followed by singles “Boulder” and “Ruffle Some Feathers”. His latest single is “Good Things in Life”.

MellowK is currently working on his third studio album, innovating new ideas, growing his fanbase and momentum. “I think the main thing is I want to build something that the culture will be proud of, that they can vibe to and so on.” Even in lowkey demeanor, this artist is set on the stars, destined for a smooth landing.
