Best of The West- Bangura serves a taste and touch of her roots.
Meet Chef Bangura. A St. Louis based “superwoman” with a passion for serving with care and a touch of flare. Authentically superb in her delivery of delicious West African, American, and European delicacies and elegant decor to the designer’s delight, this short heroine’s heart is in every dish and caters to the tastebud’s wish. Let’s indulge…in her story that is.

Ivory Coast/Liberia native Chef Patience Bangura spent her childhood in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother as the “favorite taste tester”. “Growing up, I didn’t watch much tv. My grandmother used to bake and sell, so as I grew up, I was like…I want to cook.”, shares the caterer and event planner. The licensed chef prides her upbringing as the catalyst for her love of food, family, and fellowship. “That’s one thing that binds us together. It’s food.”
The 31 yr. old U.S. Army wife and mom began exploring cuisine beyond her native foods. Along with encouragement from friends and family, Patience began to create a niche and style for her service and dishes, which led to landing into event planning. “The event planning just kind of blended into it.”, she explains. “Just like a one stop shop”. Bangura’s first event was for her local church, Berea Temple International. “Some of the church members were like, “Have you thought about doing this more, like professionally?” Shortly after, Bangura Event and Catering was born.

Bangura Event and Catering’s services include event catering, decor, equipment rentals, fruit arrangements, and private and travel chef services. “I’m also looking forward to securing a banquet hall.”, says Chef Patience. The entrepreneur eventually plans to also open an international restaurant back home, in Liberia. “In a few years, I could see myself doing that. I want to expand.” Anchored in focus, grace, and grit, this dedicated visionary and culinary queen is well on her way to making her motherland proud. Flatter our platters please.

“Keep striving. It takes time to get there. Keep working on it, eventually you will achieve.” -Chef Patience Bangura
