Meet Caleb the Artist. A local powerhouse of soul, sincerity, and serenades. Mastering creative leverage in his faith, gifts, and experiences, this sizzling artist has a message of melodic MUSIC. We chat about his joys and journey.

Wellston/Northwest County native artist, Caleb “Caleb the Artist” Whitfield grew up in a Christian and “musically inclined” family. “My great-grandmother Mary made a big deal for her grandchildren to be in church every Sunday at Friendly Temple, bible study, even “after bible study.”, he joyfully shares. ” I was heavily involved in the church. Seeing her in choir and singing, that’s where I got my start. I was always around music and instruments with my grandparents.”

In his school years, the Clayton High alumnus also took up musical theatre. “Ever since I was a kid, that has always been my passion. Music and acting.”, Caleb adds. The artist credits his grandfather as his biggest motivation. “I didn’t understand it as a kid, but I understand now as an adult the sacrifices he made. Waking at 4am every morning just to go to work to make sure his household was taken care of. My grandfather showed me the example of what hardwork and dedication is. My grandparents gave me the knowing that, I could do anything in this world.”

The 23 yr. old singer also credits R&B singer, K. Michelle as one of his musical inspirations. “I have loved her ever since the beginning, when she was on Jive.”, says Whitfield. “I love her vulnerability and personality. She’s a straight shooter.” He also admires legendary singers such as Stevie Wonder, Beyonce’, The Clark Sisters, Tank, and Summer Walker.

At age 13, Caleb began recording his own music. “I taught myself how to record and master. I’m much better now of course.” Caleb the Artist’s music can be described as “fun and honest”. “I try to be as truthful as possible with my music.”, he explains. “It’s also about having fun, being yourself, and knowing that its ok to be different.” In late August 2019, the crooner released his debut album, “The Truth Uncovered” on streaming platforms. In 2021, Caleb followed up with singles “I Can’t Walk Away”, “Conversation”, and “Unf**kwitable”. His sophomore album, “I’m Far From Perfect, Pt. 1” was released in December 2023, followed by his latest, “I’m Far From Perfect, Pt. 2” in the summer of 2024.

Caleb the Artist is also a podcaster and host of “Caleb’s Hot Takes”, streaming on YouTube. Currently, he is working on entrepreneurship, networking, performances, and releasing new music and content. “For me, once I record the music, I’m done.”, he laughs. “I’m always rediscovering myself in a sense. Like “what else am I going to talk or write about?”. So just trying to stay in the creative flow. Finding new inspiration.” The songwriter and producer is also looking forward to touring soon, sharing his pure light, stage by stage.
