Gleam. Groovy. Galactic. Devann Thornton’s artwork gives you the feeling of “feet off the ground”. This local sketcher, painter, and graffiti artist packs a solid solar vision brought to life piece by piece. It’s giving “dimensional delicacy” and we’re here for it. Let’s soar into his story.

“I loved to paint ever since I was a kid. People always told me I was artistic.” North county St. Louis native artist, Devann Thornton spent his youth soaking up creative inspiration from life, world, and legendary comics. “My aunt used to buy me comics when I was little. They were X-Men comics.”, explains the painter. “That style of art inspired me to always want to create stuff like that. Then I started loving graffiti.”

The McCluer North alumnus describes his style of art as “exploring”. “What I’m working on this year is developing a definitive style to leave my fingerprint.”, says Thornton. “…but I like to explore different types of concepts in my art.” The sketcher also enjoys taking requests for specific pieces. The 31 yr. old artisan has curated an impressive collection of colorful, astral themed pieces of characters, fem figures, and symbolic abstracts.

Devann is also a spray paint graffiti artist and is currently working on community projects. “Graffiti would be my favorite style of work.” He has done graffiti murals across the city, and also Kansas City, MO. His pieces have also been featured in local galleries, such as The KRe8 Place in south St. Louis.

The commissioned artist is looking forward to curating galleries and exhibitions, creating more graffiti, and also a feature in Paint Louis, a local site for mural and graffiti artists in the region. “I would love to establish a gallery place where you can meet other artists and connect.” Devann’s extraordinary work is destined for recognition above and beyond the borders.
