Meet Tiffany Mariie. A local linguist of inner spoken whispers in WORDS. Known for channeling the modern woman’s woes and wins, this poetic queen sparks the ears of listeners with language of society struggle and soul. I chat with the artist on her personal power of poetry. Let’s turn it up.

South St. Louis native poet Tiffany Mariie, remembers her childhood as being the “quiet kid.” “Growing up not being able to really speak on much, I was just very silent.”, shares the artist. “However, I always had a lot to say. So, it turned into poetry eventually. Anything I wanted to say, I would just write.”

The Bayless High alum spent her early years forming her authentic expression and delivery, while also watching her mother. “My mom is also a poet, her name is Quiet Storm.”, says Tiffany. “She’s one of my biggest inspirations with everything that I do.” The poetess also admires the New Jersey poet and rapper, Lady London. “Originally she started out doing Vines and videos before TikTok became a thing. She was always doing poetry, and she turned her poetry into music. I really hope to get there.”

The storyteller describes her personal artistic style as “realistic”. “I like to talk about things that are relevant to today’s time. Things that everybody can relate to.”, explains Tiff. “Everyday society issues. Dating, bad relationships, f**k boys and b****es, you know…getting money.” The poet believes in flexing versality to meet her audience wherever they are.

“When I started, my messages were “love yourself” and “be confident in your skin”. Then a couple of my pieces were a little violent. Like “I’ll pull up on you”. Yea…I’ll take it there.”, she laughs. “Now closer to this new year, I’m in my “softer girl era.” In March 2024, Tiffany Mariie released her debut spoken word single, “Hidden Colors” on streaming platforms. In May, she followed up with Unspoken. In August 2024, the artist released her debut album, The Voiceless. “I’m showing more love to the men now. I’m switching it up. The message will be completely different this time.”

Tiffany Mariie is currently working on her upcoming spoken word album, Intrusive Thoughts. “It’s going to be vulgar, sexual, explicit, and raw.” confirms Tiffany. “I’m really giving it all of me this time. 110 percent.” She is also looking forward to collaborating and curating music infused poetry and visuals. “I also want to speak more to the youth and be involved with young women. I want to be a voice and advocate for young people.” The artist also works in real estate and plans to build a youth housing project.
