Wind Under Wings- Songstress and shot taker spreads her gifts.
Meet Rave Xo. Timid. Talented. Trailblazing. A gifted creator of lyrics and long exposures, this Kirkwood native brings her own flavor and fluorescents to the forefront. Tap into our chat on her love for God, growth and gratitude.
Raven “Rave Xo” Minor can be defined as an “aesthetic artist”. The poetic ma’am with the cam appreciates the value of communicating the inner beauty through rhymes and rhythm. “I started music in 2019. I was really inspired by my nephew who’s a rap artist.”, she shares. “He invited me to a couple of his shows. It was so fun and exciting to see someone expressing themselves.”

Minor’s exposer to the music scene inspired her to find her own voice and sound. “I loved music anyway, so I was like “hmm, maybe I can make my own and figure out what that would sound like.”, adds the artist. “I started dabbing into some beats and writing and put stuff together. Now I’m here.” The Kirkwood High grad found her ground and took off. She heavily admires musical greats such as Michael Jackson, along with Mariah Carey and Ashanti. “MJ is my favorite artist of all time. Another one who influenced my sound when I first started was Doja Cat.”, says Rave.

The 27 yr. old creator also admires stars such as actress/writer/film producer Issa Rae. “She had a web series on YouTube years ago that inspired Insecure. I remember watching that and then getting to see her become this big mogul was motivating.” Rave Xo says her personal vibe is “expressive”. “My art is about my feelings and my journey.”, she explains. “Learning self-love and just gaining more confidence in who I am and where I’m going even as far as my faith walk with Christ. I want my listeners to get insight on how I’m not letting the things that happen to me stay with me. Just growth.”
In July of 2023, Rave Xo released her debut single, L.M.L on streaming services. In December 2023, the hip-hop/rap artist followed up with single Her. “My first music project was called Hermit Mode. It was a mix of songs about how I was really secluded to myself. Speaking up wasn’t what I was good at, so the music was about me breaking out of my shell.”, Rave says. The artist is also a photographer, content creator, and editor in chief of Unified magazine. “I got started in photography around 2017 with taking pictures of friends on my iPhone. Then in 2023, I took it more seriously, so I had to nurture it. It’s a passion for me.”

Currently, Rave Xo is focused in on photography and producing new music and content. “Music wise, I’m wanting to transition into Christian R&B and rap. I’ve made a few songs here and there, but I want to do a bigger project for it.” She also looks forward to growing an organic fanbase and new collaborations. Needless to say, Rave is on a new wave with the gift and glam to back it up. Out of her cocoon into the spotlight, let her fly!

“Focus on expression and authenticity. If you love it, someone else will.” -Rave Xo
