Boy from the Band- Catch the beat from Qartier’s heat.
Meet Qartier Q. Rhythmic. Rogue. Romantic. Beastly on the track, yet sincere in heart. From young drummer boy to big business Q, this artist is bound to strike gold with synergy and sound. Tap in as we chat about his drive, dreams, and targeted destination.
North county/Florissant native artist, Qartier Q got his first dose of stardom as a youngster playing the drums during his toddler years. “I’ve always been doing music since I was like two or three.”, shares the McCluer North alum. “I grew up playing the drums. I can remember playing on tin cans at my grandmother’s house when I was like three or four.” Developing rhythm from a tender age also sparked Q’s interest in expansion of musical and artistic expression.

During grade school, Qartier tuned his gift further by joining the school band. “Being able to put rhythm and beats together grew into me being in all forms of band.”, says Q. “I started doing musicals when I was in elementary school but then I fell away from singing and just stuck to band.” The artist continued jazz and concert band all the way through high school, perfecting his gear and ear for rhythm. He also excelled in acting during his junior and senior year.

The singer/rapper found inspiration from various genres of music. From gospel legends Fred Hammond, The Wyatts and Winans, to rap legend Lil Wayne. “I listened to a lot of gospel and my mom played a lot of R&B.”, explains Qartier. “A lot of India Arie, Lauryn Hill, Jodeci, Joe, all of that ’90’s R&B. As far as rap, when I heard Lil Wayne’s “The Mob”, I said “that was it.” Q credits his mother as his closest inspiration. “Just for being a single parent raising two young men with different personalities and gifts. Being able to manage and encourage both of us to live our dreams.” As he ventured down his musical path, Qartier went from a young gospel group singer and drummer to stitching his own newfound tapestry.

“When COVID hit, I was watching a ton of YouTube, and I was seeing these people that were taking off and doing these great things through music. and it just clicked in me like “why not us?” In August 2020, Qartier Q released his debut hip-hop/rap single titled Big Boss on streaming platforms under his label, management, and conglomerate, Core Entertainment Group. “We have all the talent that you need to start a media conglomerate.” The group also consists of photographer and videographer Bino, graphic designer Abrian, and fellow artist Malcolmxavier.
In September of 2020, the SEMO grad dropped single Part of Me. His debut mixtape titled Qartier was released in March 2021, followed by single Rollin and his EP titled Q. “When people listen to me or watch my videos, I don’t want them to feel like it’s not attainable. I realize how I do things is not exactly normal. However, I believe you can do anything you set your heart and mind to.”, says Q. “So, yea I be talking fly s***, dressed fly and do things that people that are well off do, but I do it to show I’m just like y’all and it’s possible.” The songwriter writes about life, love, and tough experiences. “Just things that I’ve done. From heartbreak and my upbringing to how much I’ve grown as a whole and as an artist.” His album NUMB (Pressure Through Pain) was released in January 2023, and his latest single is Like You.
Qartier Q is also a content creator. “Lately I’ve been heavy in my content bag.” The artist is an active vlogger on YouTube and other social media platforms. He is also currently producing more music, visuals, and performing his catalog. “I’m working on a new project for the end of the year as well.” While Q is looking forward to organic growth, monetization, and publishing, we are looking forward to more heat from this blazing artist and his camp.

“Be consistent. Building and learning is key. Believe in who you are even if the world doesn’t.” -Qartier Q
