Prized & Revised- Aungela’s new page takes the center stage.
Elegantly inventive and eager. A woman of soul, song, and stardom. Paving the way for the new yet bringing the past passion for her arts. From the billboards to the screens, this songstress/actress is chiming to her prime and well worth the watch and listen. Tap in, its lights, camera, AUNGELA!

Meet Aungela. A Germany born/St. Louis raised artist whose artistic origins roots from her musical upbringing. “I’ve been singing since I was five.”, shares the North Tech High grad. “My family is a very musical family. Heavy gospel background.” Growing up in a military family, Aungela (pronounced awn-gee-la) knew firsthand that focus and determination would carry her dreams far and wide.
The songbird recalls her early musical favorites as the nostalgic pop and R&B groups. “All of the 90’s groups. I was kind of obsessed with it all.”, she laughs. “Like Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls.” The artist began taking her talent off the shelf in a gospel group called “Gem Artists”. “When Covid hit, we couldn’t get together and do music anymore.”, explains Aungela. “I still wanted to do music so, I came out solo as Sapphire Phoenix.”

Recently renamed and rebranded as her first name, Aungela, the 34 yr. old artist (formerly Sapphire Phoenix) began her solo journey as a songwriter and singer in January of 2021. In late January 2021, she released her debut single “Distraction” on streaming services. “My music is about resilience and authenticity. I write all of my music based off of my experiences. I don’t talk about anything that I don’t have experience with.”
In July 2021, the artist followed up with single, “Dumb For You”. In October of the same year, Aungela released hip hop/rap single, “Love Don’t Change” featuring Elijah Neeley and MU$I€MIND. Her debut album, “Personal” was released in October of 2022. Collectively, Aungela has released and featured on her studio album and 10 singles, including her latest, “Solar Connection.” “The music that I’m doing now is a bit lighter, I’m in a different mental space.”, she says. “It’s more neo-soul.”

Apart from music, Aungela is also a stage and screen actress. Her recent role is “Cricket Williams” in Vicki McGill’s “The Agony & The Ecstasy” series and has been set to premiere on Roku on August 14th. Currently, the artist is working on new music release, merch, marketing, and eventually her first concert and tour. “Five years from now, man who knows…the sky is the limit.”, she smiles. “By then, I would’ve bumped shoulders with some people that can help me get ahead.” With a focused vision and talent to match, we’re rooting for Aungela, doubts are out, all bets are in.

“Give yourself grace along the way. Trust your journey.” -Aungela
