Meet Lisha Rae. A St. Louis native artist with a gift for roles, rhythm, and runways. Cute and comfy in her curvaceous confidence, this melanin-infused muse is setting a standard for STL’s prizes in queen size! Tap into her story.

“I got into modeling because I love to play dress up. However, my first love was singing.” 30 yr. old multi-disciplinary artist Lisha Rae remembers her early years of “hiding her vocals”. “I was always too shy to showcase my voice.”, shares the artist. “So, I got into modeling. I kind of stumbled upon it because of my look. I’ve always been told I was pretty.” With a discovery of love for the camera and adoration for her physique, Lisha Rae knew where to start in her artistic journey.

At age 6, the Hazelwood Central alum was booked for her first modeling job with Walmart. “I was in a Walmart catalog.”, she recalls. “I also went to modeling school when I was 15 and graduated from John Casablanca Modeling Agency.” In 2018, the plus size model began to put greater effort in expanding her experiences and modeling resume. “I want to say that I kind of “inspired myself” because I wanted to see more people that looked like me.”

The STLCC Florissant Valley grad’s first runway was Layla Mayo’s fashion show in 2018. “She put on a show here and I modeled for two designers.” Since then, the artist has been keeping busy and networking with local artists, designers and photographers, sharpening her skills and exposure. Lisha is also an actress, singer and backup dancer. In July 2024, the singer released her debut single, Chocolate Strawberry on streaming platforms.

The creative stays grounded by the influence of her strong feminine upbringing from her mother, grandmother, and aunts. “I’m also inspired by so many artists here in St. Louis.”, says Lisha. “I’ve always been in the shadows supporting everybody else, so I was like “I want to get out here and do it too.” The artist also admires soulful legends such as Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Chrisette Michele and India Arie. “For me, it’s definitely neo-soul, pop, and ol’ skool.” Whether through modeling, dance, acting, or music, Lisha Rae wants to give her supporters a dose of “fun and confidence.” “I want people to just have fun and be themselves, not being ashamed of anything.”, she expresses. “Live and dance like no one is watching. Just be you. Own it.”

As of late, Lisha Rae is working and collaborating. She is currently cast in Lilo Denise’ YouTube web series, Where Queens Meet: The Series, and the upcoming The 314 Show from Jamal the Comedian. From runways to screenplays, this vibrant artist is serving us cold and BOLD. Always one up for the curvy!
