St. Louis, Missouri native sculptor and molder Phil Perschbacher, began his concrete craft as a young child. While his peers found solace in making fun, the artist found purpose in “making the mold.” “I just always really enjoyed it.”, shares Perschbacher. “I’ve worked with many different materials over the years. From paper to metal to stone, and then to concrete.”
As the Lutheran South High alum developed his expertise, so did his taste in subject. “I was deeply inspired by Michelangelo.”, Phil explains. “I always appreciated his work because of the scale of it. Such an amazing technique.” Apart from admiring the late famous Italian artist, Perschbacher also drew inspo from nature’s beauty, and capturing it as a gift to others. “What’s most enjoyable is making things for people to appreciate, use, and live with.”

The NYAA (New York Academy of Art) grad specializes in concrete sculptures of wildlife, botanicals, and imitations of human anatomy. “I want people to have an emotional connection to what I make.” says Phil. “I try to connect to see what people are interested in.” The 44 yr. old sculptor is consistently evolving in his catalog and artistic range. “I try to keep up. One week something could be popular, the next week it’s something else.”

“I try to do things that are permanent. Something that will outlive me.” Whether molding a dog, planter, or bird bath, Perschbacher’s goal is impression, quality, and longevity. “
Known in the metropolitan area for his craftsmanship, The Concrete Sculptor has cultivated a catalog of legacy worthy pieces in the sculpting sector. Whether a gem in the garden or a nugget of art on a nightstand, Perschbacher’s name rings a concrete bell that’s here to stay beyond his lifetime.

“Always do what you’re passionate about. If it’s not rewarding to you, people won’t find joy in it.” -Phil “The Concrete Sculptor” Perschbacher
